Fire Door Compliance & Regulations
Fire doors must be regularly inspected to meet legal requirements under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and relevant British Standards.
It is essential that Fire Doors installed in multi occupancy dwellings are inspected at least every 12 months but it is recomend to check them every 6 months especially for communal doors. For buildings that the floor level of the top floor dwelling exceeds 11m, quarterly inspections are required.
To prove compliance it is essential to keep documentation that shows when inspections are carried out as well as repairs and maintenance. Ideally these should be available on site as well as copies retained elsewhere such as a digital folder.
